Founding Philosophy
The Center was established to advocate human rights of socially alienated people and to give them support.
It is committed to the fulfillment of human rights in a sense of dignity and equality before the law by providing free legal aid and probono counseling.
Our goal is to provide legal welfare through legal revision movements, lectures, public information and educational service in order to prevent the violation of an individual's rights and to protect them until the time when justice and peace prevail everywhere in the world. Furthermore, we are dedicated to the pursuit of democracy and peace in families (the basic social group) and also to national and worldwide welfare.
Who We Are
The Center was established in 1999. Since that time we have continued to work and protect those in need through free legal counseling. In order to solve civil, family problems, and criminal cases through legal solutions, Counselors and Lawyers at the Center provide legal counseling, mediation, preparation of documents and legal representation, all free of charge (at the courts) when necessary for the people including foreign residents in Korea. In addition, the center offers specific counseling for offenders in cases of domestic violence.
For Education and to prevent family problems, the Center has an educational department, which endeavors to raise awareness on domestic conflict issues through a variety of programs. Likewise, in an effort to extend the network of the Center domestically as well as internationally, the Center has establishing branches in various areas of Korea and abroad.
The Center is also on consistent revision movement for unreasonable law related to family, sexual violence, domestic violence and child abuse. Besides, we urge to organize the 'Legal welfare officer system' into the Legal Aid Act for promoting the legal aid project.
